Local HVAC Association Encourages Homeowners to Keep their ACs Well-maintained

The Scripps Ranch HVAC Association is encouraging homeowners to keep their air conditioning units well-maintained. The local industry group says a property owner will tremendously benefit from an optimally functioning AC unit.

In one of their latest web post, The Air Conditioning Association Scripps Ranch enumerated the many benefits of having a periodically serviced Air Conditioning and Heating System. “During these times of uncertainty, where will put a lot of premium on health, having good indoor air quality is a must to keep everyone at home healthy. A good HVAC system can help keep indoor air quality at healthy levels,” says Carey Richmond, Executive Director, Scripps Ranch HVAC Association.

Keeping the Filters Clean to Avoid AC Repairs

The association says one of the ways to keep the AC well-maintained is by doing regular home maintenance on the AC. Richmond says keeping the filters clean and unclogged is easy and just needs a bit of time and effort from the homeowner. “If the filters need replacement every month, set an alarm on the mobile phone or have a visual reminder for that,” says Richmond.

He adds that it will help a lot if the homeowner would store some filters on hand so that it will be convenient for him to replace filters monthly. Clogged filters are the primary cause of energy inefficiencies in air conditioning systems. By exerting extra effort to get air through filthy filters, the AC system gets to consume more energy than needed. Once this occurs, cooling bills start to skyrocket.

Regular AC Servicing Extends the Life Off the Unit

Apart from raising energy consumption, The Scripps Ranch HVAC Association says clogged filters also cause undue wear and tear on the AC mechanism. “If an AC system would have to work harder than it normally should, the extra effort will take a toll on the unit,” explains Richmond. He explains this will manifest through breakdowns or the need for repairs.

The Scripps Ranch HVAC Association also reminded homeowners that a periodic AC servicing will help a lot in maintaining excellent indoor air quality. “Professional air conditioner servicing helps keep indoor air quality at better levels because it cleans up the air handlers and everything that may affect the quality of air inside the house,” Richmond says. He adds that AC Contractors have specialized equipment that could efficiently and safely clean up evaporator coils, fins, and other AC parts and mechanisms that would need cleaning up. Moreover, AC professionals have the training and skills to tune up the whole AC system, making it function in its top-notch condition.
